Gail Shafer holds a master’s degree in physical therapy from W. Carolina University and is licensed in NY and MA. She has a B.A. in biology from Earlham college and a massage therapy degree with post-graduate training in Pfrimmer technique deep muscle therapy from the Alexandria School of Scientific Therapeutics. She is a former E.M.T., home health aide, physical therapy aide and manager for two rehabilitation staffing companies prior to opening Miracle of Health P.T. in 2001. She has completed continuing education courses in muscle energy technique, lymphatic drainage, craniosacral, visceral mobilization, combined fulcra approach, hippotherapy (using the movement of horses to help patients reach their therapy goals) and many other techniques. Her first assignments working with people with disabilities was through in-service projects at Oakwood School in Poughkeepsie, NY in 1985. Combined with her childhood orthopedic challenges those projects initiated the above professional progression into helping professions she has been proud to participate in since she was 15 yrs. old. Her interest in holistic services arose out of a lack of conventional medical options for her own prior physical challenges and a desire to share her growing knowledge and new perspectives on available options with both practitioners and patients.
